Supporting Turkey and Syria – MedShare

On February 6th, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake devastated southeast turkey near the Syrian border, with large aftershocks following the initial surge. In Syria, geopolitical conflict worsened as the earthquake exacerbated effects of the ongoing war, deepening the crisis for civilian lives and overall health.

This past week, the Wholly Medical team volunteered at MedShare, a 501c(3) humanitarian aid organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people and our planet by sourcing and directly delivering surplus medical supplies and equipment to communities in need around the world. With the help of other volunteers from corporations like UPS, we were able to assist with the sorting and packaging of over 900 pounds of medical supplies meant for shipment as humanitarian aid for Turkey and Syria. While these supplies will travel thousands of miles across the globe, knowing that they will uplift the health of a struggling people and community gives us purpose to continue working to help others, even when we do not see the direct result. If you are interested in assisting, MedShare has regular volunteer opportunities that allow you to help sort supplies and make a difference! You may also donate to their disaster relief fund that aims to provide even more medical supplies and equipment as quickly as possible!
